๐ TOP TEN TERROR: Leader of ATM Jackpotting Conspiracy Added to FBIโs Most Wanted
The heat just got real for Anibal Alexander Canelon Aguirre, the mastermind behind a massive international ATM jackpotting scheme. The FBI's Omaha Field Office and U.S. Attorney Lesley Woods announced today that Aguirre has been added to the FBIโs Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.
Canelon Aguirre, 49, led a sophisticated cyber attack network that funneled millions of dollars from U.S. financial institutions into the hands of Tren de Aragua (TdA), a foreign terrorist organization. His crew deployed malware to force ATMs to spit out cash, then laundered the loot through a complex network.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Eugene Kowel laid it down: "Canelon Aguirre led a vast conspiracy that hit financial institutions across the country, all for Tren de Aragua. We need the publicโs help to bring him down. This is serious stuff, and he's the first cyber criminal on the list."
U.S. Attorney Lesley Woods added: "Aguirreโs malware was the key to these crimes. Heโs a threat to national security. Any info leading to his arrest will make us all safer. Tren de Aragua wonโt be able to operate without their cash flow."
