INSTAGRAM HUSTLE: LA Crips Gangster Gets 9 Years for $2.8M Bank Fraud

Chase Matthew Griffin, a.k.a. 'Trey,' from the LA Crips, just got popped with nine years in federal prison for a $2.8 million bank fraud scheme. The dude was brazen enough to advertise his hustle on Instagram, flashing stacks of cash and even posing with guns ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ. He lured accomplices online to give him access to their bank accounts, where he deposited forged checks and made off with the loot.

Griffin, 26, who bounced between Atlanta, Ontario, and South LA, pled guilty in March to conspiracy to commit bank fraud. The scheme started back in 2022, with Griffin and his crew stealing and altering checks from the mail, then depositing them into bank accounts before the banks could catch on. The money went straight to Griffin's high-flying lifestyle: a $15K-per-month ranch home lease, jet travel, and partying at casinos. Social media pics showed him posing with a BMW and a Rolls Royce. But it all came crashing down when one of his accomplices flipped and started working with the feds. Text messages and photos led investigators straight to Griffin, who was finally cornered in Georgia. Griffin's Instagram handles, Treytimes3 and Treytimes3_, were filled with photos of him holding cash, standing by ATMs, and even a receipt for a $22,487 deposit. One post read: 'If you donโ€™t put a Chase in my hand by 4pm today youโ€™re literally an idiot.' Another showed him inside a Rolls Royce, captioned: 'Every Chase in la call me rn Next day 20-90k.'
