UGET BUSTS DRUG RING, SEIZES FIREARM IN NANAIMO FLIGHT

The boys from the Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) pulled off a major drug bust in Nanaimo. Officers spotted suspicious activity near Strickland Avenue and Robin Street, known for its dial-a-dope biz. When they tried to stop a suspect vehicle, the driver fled. No chase though — UGET called in the RCMP Air Services for aerial backup. Nanaimo PDS tracked down the female passenger, while the male driver was nabbed nearby. A bag chock-full of over one kilogram of suspected drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl, crystal meth, and pills, was recovered. The real kicker? They also seized a .22 calibre pen gun. The male suspect got an undertaking for fleeing but faces more charges as the investigation continues. Inspector Donovan Tait of Nanaimo RCMP hailed the operation’s success, praising UGET’s expertise and the support from air services. Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha of CFSEU-BC echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of strong partnerships in disrupting criminal networks on Vancouver Island.
